Joshua Devine is working on a degree to be a child psychologist and one of his instructors told him babysitting would be good experience, better than observing his younger brother. Joshua knows Heather the woman he is dating will not be happy with the hours he will have to work, but he thinks she will understand. Heather is ready to take their relationship to the next level, but Joshua isn't. Joshua is from one of the richest families in Mississippi and doesn't need the job. He has problems with Dominique being a bartender because the woman he was planning to marry worked as a bartender and was killed trying to break up a fight in the bar.
She hires Joshua because he gets along with Kalvin but soon Dominique and Joshua are fighting against the sexual tension they both feel. Things go along fairly well until Joshua invites Kalvin to his little brother's birthday party. Heather is there and from her first look at Dominique she lets the green-eyed monster loose. Then there is the fact when Joshua's family hears she is a bartender and their attitude toward her changes. When Dominique mentions this to her boss, she is told why Joshua and her family feel the way they do.
I liked THE DIVINE BABYSITTER because it is one of those stories that leave you with a good feeling when you finish reading the book. Dominique's character is putting her life back together after a failed first marriage and problems with her parents. Joshua's character has to overcome the feelings left over from his fianceé's brutal death and find a way out of the relationship with a woman he has no feelings for. I recommend curling up with this book and a cup of hot chocolate. Reviewed by Hattie Boyd
