Despite appearances as a professional, athletic manager of a fitness club, Amanda Caruthers has a fragile existence. On the run from her dangerous past, Amanda isn't who everyone thinks she is and she has decided it's time to run again. But this time, Burton Campbell is determined to find out why she's so skittish around him. One thing leads to another, and Amanda has to decide if it's better to confront her past or to hide from it once again.

This book was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart contest-and deservedly so! The characters-even the bad guy-are real people with real motivations. The author's own experience with martial arts adds depth to the book without overpowering the romance. The dialogue is true to life, sparkling, and wonderful. Kelle Riley understands her characters, but that's not all. The suspense is there from page one and builds all the way through to the end. (Have I said enough to get you to understand I really loved this book?)

Take a chance on this one. I may be reacting to a totally emotional reading without any basis in story structure, characterization, and all the nuts and bolts that go into writing a fine book, but isn't our emotional response to a book all their really is when you get down to it? We either like it or we don't. And I really liked this one.
